Learning Through Fun and Play
Studies show that through play, children develop all kinds of skills, from cognitive, social and emotional to physical and critical thinking. When they play, children practice everyday skills that will be useful later in life. Free play gives children the opportunity to follow their interests, develop their strengths and express themselves creatively.
Long-term play builds children’s endurance in an activity and patience to complete a project. At Buckingham School we foster children’s curiosity by encouraging them to ask questions and stop to admire the world around them.
Children are actively involved.
We value childhood by looking at the world through children's eyes. This view allows us to understand what inspires, frightens or excites them. In addition, we encourage children's participation in making decisions relevant to them, such as field trip choices, classroom rules and other aspects. Through meetings where they have the opportunity to vote and express their opinion.
Holistic learning and development
The Journey of knowledge
We strive to educate children who are social, confident and excellent. We implement an Individual Plan for each student that acts as a channel for dialogue between our teachers and parents, allowing for effective collaboration to help the child recognize and develop to his or her fullest potential. The plan includes a Child's Portfolio that shows the child's experiences, interests and development during their time at the early learning center.
Learning everywhere and all the time
Children's learning is not limited to academic activities in the classroom. Every situation and moment is an opportunity to learn something new. At Buckingham School we encourage perseverance and a willingness to never give up, as they build resilience and determination, key skills throughout life. Often, moments of failure teach us much more than moments of success.
Cross-cutting skills
Lifelong learning begins in the early years. Cross-curricular skills are a combination of knowledge, skills, values and attitudes, together with the ability to use them in different situations. At Buckingham School our curriculum covers a range of learning areas so that children acquire a variety of skills and competencies that will contribute to their ability to adapt and transform any environment.
Learning through experience
Learning is a social experience. Children's relationships shape the way they view the world and affect all areas of their learning and social-emotional development. Through interactions, children acquire skills that enable them to express themselves and interact effectively with others in all kinds of situations.
Positive emotional experiences and close relationships foster well-being, security and a sense of belonging in children.
